A Galaxy Among Countless Others
For much of human history, the Milky Way was believed to be the entire universe. Everything that existed was thought to be contained within it.
That idea changed when powerful telescopes revealed something unexpected. Beyond our galaxy were countless others, stretching in every direction. Today, scientists estimate there may be around two trillion galaxies in the observable universe.

Each of these galaxies contains billions or even trillions of stars. Many likely host planets of their own. Some are older than the Milky Way, others still forming.
The Milky Way, once thought to be everything, is now understood as just one piece of a far larger structure. A single galaxy in an ocean of galaxies.
This realization does not make the universe feel empty. It makes it feel vast, layered, and still full of unanswered questions.
